Serge Pelletier
(Translated text)
Serge Pelletier is a multidisciplinary artist. He began his artistic career practicing photography after studying at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal.
Deeply curious by nature, this stint in photography gave way to painting. Alongside painting, in search of new experiences, Serge began practicing sculpture at the Saidye Bronfman Center under the guidance of Michèle Lavoie.
Having found the perfect medium to express his creativity, Serge unleashes arabesques inscribed in the material. He brings out the textures and colors of the stones while revealing familiar, striking forms and a mythical bestiary. It was while walking the steep shores of the Magdalen Islands that the stones were collected by their creator. The work of this artist unites the culture of the Islands with that of the greater Quebec metropolis.
(Translated text)
I sculpt the encounters of form, the random movements of organic life structured within raw materials over time.
I allow myself to be surprised by the discovery of the path ahead, through the random decisions and choices to be made, while trusting my subconscious.
I juggle with shapes, lines, and volumes, and I let poetry take root.
